Impact at CLIPI
After graduating from Stanford Law School, McFlynn worked as a prosecutor specializing in public corruption cases. He served as a CLIPI staff attorney in the late 1970s to early 1980s. At CLIPI, with Hall he co-led the Sundance case litigation which resulted in wide ranging reform of LAPD’s skid row public inebriate arrest and incarceration practices. He then coordinated the successful fundraising effort to launch the Weingart Center as an alcohol detoxification and rehabilitation facility serving as an alternative to arrest public inebriates. He also co-led, with Hunt, the successful Blake case litigation effort to integrate women fully into the LAPD.
Following CLIPI, McFlynn moved to Colorado and pursued a career as a mediator in family law disputes. He became known for his extensive pro bono work leading several environmental groups in successfully preserving large areas of Colorado wilderness.
