Moving Forward

Cutler was a CLIPI fellow early in his legal career. After graduating from Yale Law School, where he served as an editor of the Yale Law Journal, Cutler clerked for Judge Dorothy Nelson on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

Following his time at CLIPI, Cutler built a distinguished career in both public service and the private sector. He served as Director of the Division of Enforcement at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) from 2001 to 2005, overseeing numerous high-profile investigations. Subsequently, he joined JPMorgan Chase & Co. as General Counsel in 2007 and later became Vice Chairman of the firm. Currently, Cutler is Of Counsel in the Litigation Department at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP, where he previously served as Global Head of the firm’s Government and Internal Investigations Practice.
