Impact at CLIPI
After graduating Yale Law School, Cutler served as a law clerk for Ninth Circuit Judge Dorothy Nelson. He joined CLIPI as fellow from 1986 - 86 where he worked on Sundance, which challenged LAPD’s treatment of public inebriates.
Following CLIPI, Cutler served as Director of the Division of Enforcement at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) from 2001 to 2005, overseeing numerous high-profile investigations. Subsequently, he joined JPMorgan Chase & Co. as its General Counsel in 2007 and later became Vice Chairman of the firm. Currently, he is Of Counsel in the Litigation Department at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, where he previously served as Global Head of the firm’s Government and Internal Investigations Practice.
