Impact at CLIPI
Saunders was a fellow and staff attorney at Hall and Phillips, working on many of its CLIPI cases.
She later served as Deputy Director of Litigation at Bet Tzedek Legal Services in Los Angeles, and she directed the Federal Rights Project at the National Senior Citizens Law Center.
Currently, Saunders is the Associate Director of the National Consumer Law Center (NCLC) and manages its Washington, D.C. office. In this role, she directs the NCLC’s federal legislative and regulatory work, focusing on a wide range of consumer protection issues, including fintech, small-dollar lending, banking, and payments. She is a recognized expert in these areas, frequently testifying before Congress, speaking to the media, and contributing to consumer protection literature. Saunders is the lead author of Consumer Banking and Payments Law and contributes to Consumer Credit Regulation.
Her educational background includes a J.D. from Harvard Law School, where she graduated magna cum laude and served as Executive Editor of the Harvard Law Review. She also holds a master’s in public policy from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government and a B.A. from Stanford University, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.
