Impact at CLIPI
Caminker was a CLIPI fellow from 1987 to 1988. During his time at CLIPI, Caminker worked on significant public interest cases, including those involving civil rights and environmental law. This experience laid the foundation for his distinguished career in law and academia.
Caminker’s early work at CLIPI significantly influenced his commitment to public interest law and his subsequent contributions to legal education and scholarship.
After his tenure at CLIPI, Caminker went on to clerk for U.S. Supreme Court Justice William J. Brennan Jr. and Judge William A. Norris of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. He then practiced law at Wilmer, Cutler & Pickering in Washington, D.C., before transitioning into academia. Caminker joined the University of Michigan Law School faculty in 1999, serving as its dean from 2003 to 2013. His scholarly work focuses on constitutional law and judicial decision-making.
