Impact at CLIPI
After she graduated from Stanford Law School, Sobeck joined CLIPI as a fellow, where she worked on various environmental and natural resources cases including the Watts Towers and Sundance cases.
Following her time at CLIPI, Sobeck served as Deputy Assistant Attorney General in the U.S. Department of Justice’s Environment and Natural Resources Division, overseeing the Wildlife and Marine Resources Section. Later, she became the Assistant Administrator for the National Marine Fisheries Service at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). In 2018, she was appointed Executive Director of the California State Water Resources Control Board, a position she held until her retirement in 2023.
