Impact at CLIPI
After receiving her JD from Yale Law School, and clerking for LA Superior Court Judge Richard A. Gadbois, Hempel was a fellow at CLIPI from 1986 to 1987, where she engaged in civil rights, consumer protection, and environmental litigation.
After CLIPI, Hempel held significant academic positions; she was the founding Associate Dean for UCI’s Clinical Education and Service Learning. She currently serves as a Distinguished Clinical Professor of Law and the Co-Director of the Community and Economic Development Clinic at UC Irvine School of Law.
